Kingsley Bond Solicitors Interview

1. Every great celebration needs great people behind it — who are Kingsley Bond Solicitors and what do you do?

Kingsley Bond Solicitors are an SRA Regulated and CQS-accredited law firm who specialise in the full remit of Conveyancing transactions - Residential, New Build, Shared Ownership, Commercial, Bridging and Remortgages. You name it, we can assist!

2. "The Roaring Twenties" was a time when the finest parties brought the right people together — why did you choose to be part of Sort Ball 2026?

We love the roaring twenties! People knew how to let their hair down whilst working hard during a period of rapid economic growth which saw technological innovations thrive.

We're currently experiencing another period of technology-driven change, with active discussions on how conveyancing can evolve to be fit for purpose in 2026 and beyond. We're glad to be part of those conversations and constantly strive to bring our own processes into alignment with what clients and referrers need today.

The Sort Ball is a celebration of key contacts who have a similar passion for positive change and a conscientiousness in their contributions to the industry. It's also a lot of fun!

3. Sort Ball is one of the biggest moments in our calendar. What has been a standout moment for your business this year?

Achieving 5/5 star status on Review Solicitors was a proud moment as it's testament to the consistent hard work, personal service and expertise that our Solicitors deliver.

It is appreciated and boosts morale more than clients realise when they take the time to feed back their positive experiences in what can sometime feel like a thankless profession.

4. If you could raise a glass to changing one thing about the industry right now, what would it be?

Source of Funds checks! Making them less onerous all round, with less onus placed squarely on the Solicitor.

We do them at the outset to speed things up but our Solicitors often feel like forensic accountants and it's the one thing guaranteed to get clients' and donors' backs up, no matter how it is explained or how gently it's approached.

I think all firms will agree that changes in this area would be very welcomed.

5. In the roaring future of property, what are you chasing?

More productive collaboration with other professionals involved in the process - estate agents, mortgage brokers, management companies and management agents.

Solicitors are often assumed to be holding things up but they're as keen as everyone to complete as soon as practicably possible, not least because they have billing targets to meet and the firm is not paid until completion.

If a transaction isn't moving as quickly as hoped, there will always be a reason. It may be very legally complex or is being held up by tricky SOF, but more often than not, they're awaiting critical information and documents from third parties.

The entire process runs more smoothly when the Solicitor is afforded respect and the benefit of the doubt, rather than assumptions being made. This prevents mixed messages or factually incorrect information being delivered to the client, making them unnecessarily anxious.

The Solicitor will always be acting in the client's best interests - they're bound by law to do so - so a better appreciation of that responsibility would be helpful also. The client may want to exchange or complete tomorrow but it may not be legally safe yet and therefore not in their best interests to do so.
